Justifying the use of rustic elements from memories and origins, in a contemporary and sophisticated environment, with a simple and pure trait, taking advantage of coatings that refer to vernacular construction methods, combining technology with affective memory.

BLS World

The project features a 268m high tower, which is intended to offer unparalleled office space and luxury hotels in Eastern China and to drive the prosperity of Haining by redefining its city skyline. The unique formal design of the tower building and its distinctive Sky Lobby and Sky Observatory create a captivating landmark in downtown Haining. Embracing the glorious cityscape outdoors, the project will promote and witness the city's vigorous future growth.

Askianos

Askianos was intended as a family home for summer holidays on the Greek island of Crete. Research into local history and architectural language, along with meticulous site analysis allowed for the project to be developed for its context. A main staircase splits the volumes in two and leads the eye to the mediterranean sea and the summer sunset. Materials and elements of Cretan vernacular architecture meet minimal design, integrating the home into the landscape, and welcoming both indoor and outdoor living.

The Kaleidoscope

The Kaleidoscope is the living and working building located at a factory site in central Vietnam. Placed between the hill and the sea, it frames diverse (kaleidoscopic) views in directions and times. The project aims at creating a protected space from the tropical climate, and enhancing the user’s contact with nature. Under a roof resembling a Non La, a traditional farmer’s hat of Vietnam, multiple V-shaped walls divide the floors into triangular private rooms and in-between common spaces, allowing for constantly changing natural light and ventilation conditions throughout the building.

CETC Research Institute

The project lies in Hefei High-tech Zone, Anhui Province. It is a landmark building cluster integrating science and technology research and development, system testing, system co-testing demonstration and information center. According to the classification standard of relevant industries, buildings are combined freely, so as to form multiple enclosed or open spatial patterns. Characteristic contemporary design expressions and traditional spatial charm present the local features, reproduce traditional Hui-style architectural culture, and well interpret rationality of modern technology.

Landscape Design for Shaoxing

Inspired by an ancient verse that portrays the picturesque scenery of Shaoxing, the project takes "green mountain and clear water" as design concept. Instead of simply combining or simulating traditional symbols in Shaoxing, it draws on traditional Chinese landscaping and literary techniques such as "borrowing", "metaphorizing" and "analogy", to respond to local historical context and environment through abstract expressions. By incorporating local features and scenery of nearby Fushan Mountain, the project presents a picturesque, poetic landscape scene that echoes local mountains and water.
