Firm Hall

Firm Hall is a banquet and community centre in Chennai, India. The project is an adaptive reuse of an existing residential bungalow at a busy intersection. Michi connects the building with the urban context and also connect individual workspaces with each other. Michi was enhanced to forge "creative connections" and to realize the "Junction Place", a unique workplace possible only here at Nippo.

Wrapped Volumes

Wrapped Volumes is a temporary sales office located on the outskirts of an industrial city. The site has no strong immediate context, so the design takes its cues from the approach road. The movement of the road is translated into a continuous wrapped facade that lifts the structure from the ground. Parts of the wrap form a landscape layer, while other parts act as a protective skin that reduces heat gain from the south. The facade is ribbed plaster, crafted by local craftsmen. The compact interior spaces are washed in natural light.
