Design of Complementary Building Sales Centre

Design of Complementary Building

Design of Complementary Building is a facade renovation of a sales centre at the main entrance of the Qin Lake Scenic Area in Taizhou, China. The original outer skin was removed, and the west facade was rebuilt as a wind curtain wall clad in reflective stainless steel, which brightens the narrow passage between the two building volumes. A large canopy marks the entrance and completes the curtain wall. The east facade uses a perforated aluminium curtain wall to enrich light and shadow. The renovation adapts the building for new use as an exhibition hall.

MareNostrum Residential Building

MareNostrum

MareNostrum is an eight story residential building in Quito, Ecuador. The name refers to the Latin term for our sea, and the facade reinterprets the movement of the oars of Roman fleets. The building holds suites, two bedroom and three bedroom apartments and lofts, with a lounge and green areas on the terrace. Passive strategies provide natural light and ventilation.

House for Parents Residence

House for Parents

House for Parents is a residence on Amami-Oshima Island, an area with a severe subtropical climate and frequent typhoons. A large rectangular roof is supported by a steel framework structure with a four meter span. The roof creates a cool and shaded interior, similar to the space under large trees. The concrete walls stand independently from the roof structure, so the floor plan is free from restrictions caused by columns. Projecting concrete walls extend the common areas outward toward the surrounding island landscape.

Garden House

Garden

The proposal highlights nature's beauty in our urban lives, as a result, it creates a new standard of lifestyle in the city as well as introducing a breath of tranquillity into the neighborhood. The internal courtyard becomes an intermediate space functioning both as an important temperature regulator but also as a means of communicating and unifying the interior spaces. Inspired by the environmental effects that cities have on CO2 emissions and global warming, the designers tried to emphasize that the implementation of urban gardens into the home design is welcoming and achievable.
